Mine is kinda cool, my dad and I were looking through a bunch of records at a yard sale, he bought a bunch and when we got home I looked through them and found Off The Wall. I listened to it and loved it, I mean I knew who Michael Jackson was and I liked Beat It, but never really listened to him. So after I listened to Off The Wall, I was hooked, I told my dad I wanted to get on ebay and but Thriller and Bad, I did, then I got Dangerous and Invincible, now it is a full blown addiction!! He is everywhere, on my computer, all over my room, everything. My step-mom calls me crazy, but I love him so much!! That is how all the magic began!! :D

how cute! And when was it?

My story is quite different. I have a brother, who was a teenager in the 80'ies. He used to listen to Michael, so I knew Michael's songs too. In 1990 Michael was on top, everyone adored him. I've always wanted to be different, so I decided to hate Michael... Fot some years I've "hated" him. In fact, when noone was at home, I would listen to his music  . During the first months of 1992 I realized that it was stupid for me to continue pretending to hate Michael. Since then everyone knows I am a FAN. It was quite a chock for people who knew me before that, but with the time they got used to it. 8)

I was never a fan of anyone or the type to go crazy over famous individuals! Once asked this question by a friend named Carlos, I told him if anyone it would be Paul of the Beatles, but even then I didn't really go goophy! I did paint my bedroom walls and some of the art work was repersentative of Bealte songs. I also painted many other things on those walls!
I was mad at the person Michael Jackson because I believe I knew him from a time before Thriller, and that time was when his family were in troble from a law suit between Barry Gordie and The Jackson's. They were on the road playing gigs to keep the family a float and not allowed to use the Jackson five name. Joe their father had Mervin, Mike, and Janet and a Japanese sacks player and a few other musicians playing these clubs. I worked in one of the clubs, and got to know Mike! He told me nothing about who he really was I found out later. But I was so mad at him for years I would turn off his music and anything about him on the news , TV, or radio. I didn't see the Motown aniversity show till it was 20 years old!
Then Dangerous came out and he kept a promise I knew the alum as soon as I heard it! I forgave him and myself I think the first time I heard
Dangerous! I have never talked to Mike since a phone call late one night where Randy had called me and then had his brother call me back. That was over twenty years ago and lots of living...
I believe when people are in your life and you make them apart of you, no matter what happens as time passes they always stay a part of you and Mike the poor muscian I knew is a part of me for all the right reasons.
He is a kind gentel person, passionate, talented, and kepts his word!

Always in my heart till death do as part

Cody

My cousin Hugh was a HUGE fan [some might remember him from back in the day Hughman182] and then he got me hooked onto MJ. In year 9 [9th grade] I did this project on Michael to show the real person he is and not just what the media tells everyone. The underlying message was not to be prejudiced and make sure you research anything before you make a judgement. Since then I've become less of a fan. I still listen to his music occasionally but not as much as I did. My taste has changed, but I still think Michael is great. I wouldn't say I'm a diehard fan like I was before, I'm only back at the Cafe because of the people I've gotten to know here since my MJ phase.

hey Steph!! I remember Hugh - why doesn't he come back to the Cafe also? Tell him we say HI!!

Well, I never was a huge fan. I always liked him. I had knee surgery and was recovering around the time the Bashir interview came out. I decided, since I had time on my hands, that I'd look into MJ since I really couldn't understand why people like to be so mean to him. So I did some searching on the net and came to the MJCafe and found his fans to be really fun, creative, and supportive people.

I saw his music video for "You Rock My World" on the VH1 top twenty countdown one Saturday morning. It was at number six. :P

I quickly fell into a hyper-obsessive state which lasted from, oh.. late 2001 to early 2006.

As of now, I'm pretty much indifferent.

Heya kids :D
Do I remember the time (no pun intended lol) when I fell in love?

it was back in high school when I took dance and we learned the dance to thriller. Sitting in the front of my class while we watched "the making of thriller" was sure a trip for the mind I will never forget. After that I found the cafe and I got a couple friends to join and be just as nuts as the rest of us were.

The ENd :P

I was in a dance number in 2001 that was comprised of billie jean, thriller, beat it, they don't care about us, and you rock my world. My dance teacher said that the Thriller video was very good, so I found it on line (along with a whole bunch of his other videos including all of the above mentioned) and Kinda fell in love. A couple of years later I found Espeonite and joined up here...yeah

I don't even remember really. I think I watched the music video for Say, Say, Say (Mike and Paul McCartney) because I was absolutely OBSESSED with The Beatles (still am, really) and I've always had a thing for black guys...and who was that really fine lookin' black guy dancin' around with Paul McCartney? And how come he can sing better than him?

I think I was pretty much in love from the moment on. :D

Hi! I'm new here lol I found this place in my way of coping with the death of my idol!

I first became a fan of MJ when my auntie bought me History, I knew of Micheal Jackson and the Jackson movie: An american dream is my fave but I never took the time to dissect and listen to Micheal Songs. When the beat to Billie Jean started playing, I fell in love

I couldn't get enough! Cd's, reading interviews, pics, HE WAS MY IDOL! lol My friends thought I was wierd when instead of grooming my Barbies and crushing on Justin Timberlake I was perfecting my moon walk and grabbing my crotch ( lol, btw I'm still looking for a red jacket, beat it style over thriller style please)

Then on June 25, 2009 the saddest thing happened, my idol died. I was heartbroken and turned to the internet for help, I needed something of MJ to hold onto, more than his music I needed someone who didn't look at me crazy when I started crying at the news, when I locked myself in my room, to my TV for his videos, or something to tell me they made a error, MJ wasn't dead!

I found this site on google and tried it out and after surfing awhile I decided to join because I saw real people who were greiving like me, lol

I know that was long but it had to get off my chest lol

Welcome to the Cafe. I wish I could say something to ease the feeling of loss but there just isn't anything that can even remotely cover it. I felt it was a mean cruel hoax and I wish it was. *cry*

I'm the resident non-fan - until I met the people here and somewhere along the years it changed. Michael has really nice fans. It wasn't until just a couple days ago that I realized how much I really liked him too. Feels really silly but I'm still so incredibly sad and wishing it wasn't so. :(
