Jackson recieves "World Arts Award"

Michael Jackson sent a pre-recorded video message to the World Arts Awards ceremony in Vienna, Austria, on November 2nd to receive the humanitarian organisation's International Male trophy.

Introduced by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, Michael's speech follows thus: "It is a great honor for me to be selected by Mr Gorbachev and the jury to receive the World Arts Award 2002. This year the motto of the World Awards are peace and tolerance. These values are especially dear to me. In my own heart and mind I stand united with you for peace, love and tolerance for the world. I love you very much. Thank you so much."

It is thought Michael originally planned to be in attendance at the ceremony, but his security team advised him not to travel following the armed siege in Russia last month. Michael apparently indicated he would like to appear at the awards in 2003 to present as one of the previous year's winners.
